The Enemy

Have you ever wondered why negative things happen to you? Do you have an enemy? Do you know your enemy? Why does that individual take
such role in your life?

The Enemy

An enemy is he who causes harm towards you. An enemy wants to steal, kill or destroy you.  Who is the enemy? Do you even have one near you? Of course not. I personally say I have no enemies. LIAR!  We all have an enemy in common. Its name is Satan; or as others call it “devil”. It is known as a spiritual snake or dragon that comes to destroy our lives. He uses people as tools to be our enemies in person.

For our struggle is not against human opponents, but against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers in the darkness around us, and evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm.

(Ephesians 6:12)

The Attack

The enemy usually attacks when there is a huge blessing coming our way. It knows God’s plan and it will try anything for you not to beblessed. For God turns  tribulations into blessings and the enemy knows that. Therefore, it knows that even though you are having such a hard time, in the end, you will be blessed. Why does it attack though? What did you ever do? Nothing It wants your ownership;for you  to disobey and loose your path in life. It wishes to destroy your life for that is its job. It wants you to turn your eyes to the darkness and walk a different path in life.

Breaking it down

The thief comes only to steal, slaughter, and destroy. I’ve come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

John 10:10

There was a young male who had glaucoma and was losing his vision. He didn’t know he had it as he drove the expressway and almost crashed. Thanks to God, he didn’t crash because if so, he would of entered a pit whole of depression for he had a little boy who was under his custody.

the enemy satan

Steal- the enemy stole his eyesight

Kill- the enemy used what he stole to make him crash and
get killed

Destroy- The enemy tried to destroy both his and his child’s life with what he stole.

Therefore, we can see how the enemy works. What is something that he stole from you? How are you getting it back? We must fight the spiritual battle and recover what is ours. The enemy is beneath Jesus feet. God has given us the authority over the enemy and above all things.

Short Story

There was a God fearing woman who was confronted with her inconsistency; felt  horrible;unwanted thoughts increased and within an hour, she felt suicidal. Therefore, she jumped into a pool that was 37 degrees. Thanks  to God’s mercy, she didn’t drown; for he sustained her. Little did she know, she had a last minute conference to attend where a confirmation from the Lord was waiting for her that night; the message she left with was that she had a purpose in life for she is an ambassador in Christ.

We can clearly see how Satan tried to steal the confirmation that the Lord would give her that night. We can also see how the enemy wanted to kill her both mentally and physically.  However, it was already destroying her  with the unexpected action it took over her. Therefore, don’t let unclean thoughts in your mind which is where Satan mostly attacks.

I have a different view of the devil. All humans are made up of good and bad. The question is which part is more predominant, you good or your bad part. That little voice inside which warns you, do not do that! You either listen or not. We were given free will. Free will to do good or bad, it is up to you. You are responsible for your actions and you will suffer the consequences.

All humans have the Godly spark inside.

Hello Linda, thanks for this wonderful post. First the issue of God is one that everyone living must acknowledge. We all have seen the different sign God have shown to us and it will be very sad not to accept that there is a God living

Now the enemy. Someone who is forever doomed and can never be in the mercy of the almighty will surely look for ways to destroy the wonderful works of God and that why we humans are the victims. Satan can come in many form, from your phone, office partner, friends, family even from your heart. What is required from we all is to be able to identity this Satan and not give in to the temptations he brings.

Satan takes on many forms and the most common is self-doubt. He also places obstacles in your way and makes trying hard to do at times. Recognizing his impact on the negatives in life helps unlock the positive. Thanks for an educational and uplifting post. We all need to cast off the demons and allow God’s grace to bless our journey.

First thing that came to my mind when I read “enemy” was the literal enemy/people around us. So I was thinking like “I don’t have enemy”:) But as I go through your article enemy means a deeper meaning and yes I have encountered enemies in my lige. We all do. It can mislead us and lead us astray but with prayer and strong faith we can overcome it.

Thank you for allowing  me  to share this interesting review of yours.  You  have brought across your ideas very convincingly, however, I don’t share the view that I have enemies or if I do,  I am not aware of them.  I believe that most of the times when bad things happen to us, its because we have already conjured the thought.

Although, I may not share your views, I have a lot of respect for other people’s perspective and I have no doubt in my mind that your material will find comfort with your readers.

Hi there! I’m drawn to the link to read about The enemy. I’m currently in this battle right now, and let me tell you – it is NOT fun. While being a Christian has taught me that God is in control, it’s so difficult to be right in the thick of it. I’m trying to look at the situation as though He has carefully selected me to fight this fight. Therefore, I’ll be strong with and for Him. He’s beside, behind, and in front of me leading the way. The enemy will be overcome. Thanks for sharing this!

I always teach on Satan from the concept of “the adversary” and “the accuser” in terms of a trial. He throws lies upon lies you, since he is “the father of all lies” to make you feel guilty. That’s what he did with Job. He brought false testimony after false testimony against Job. And, it’s easy to feel guilt because we all bear the sinful nature (“all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”). What a believer must remember is that our sins our not only forgiven, but they are covered under the blood of Christ and “cast as far as the east is from the west”. And, in remembering that, forgive ourselves so that Satan has no foothold with his lies.

Hi, Linda, you post an accurate definition of evil in a highly focused and biblical interpretation. Descriptions of what evil does are spot-on, and you give credit to the master evil doer Satan. I don’t have a direct and personal experience [glad of that] with evil other than peripheral. Surrounded with it and indirectly affected. Your content, IMO, is organized, cites great reference and appeals to a wide audience.

This is so true. I always feel as if I have an enemy. Not from a far, but right beside me. Everytime I think something good is about to happen, something bad happens instead and I am unable to control it. Its constantly been happening and I’ve given up on thinking something good night be coming my way.

Because of this I always think negative and never positive thoughts. But this article got me thinking you know?

Thank you for this article and all the best.

    • Aabidah, exactly.
The enemy will always try to ruin our lives; it is real.
When we are receiving a blessing, it comes to internee.
However, it is up to us to stop it with prayer.
We have the authority to do it.
When one thinks of the worst things that can happen, one opens the door of ear and when this door is opened, the enemy has a door to enter.

  11. Paul says:

    Dear Lindymonse,

Being a follower of CHRIST this post means a lot to me and your article certainly made me think more on the subject.

Knowing we have an enemy is the key, then only we can be careful. Many use to say proudly “I don’t have any enemy” as you mentioned they are liars or they are not aware of the truth.

For all of us, Satan is our enemy. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

The only way to overcome our enemy is by…

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

    GOD Bless!

    In CHRIST,
